4 Days Desert From Agadir To Merzouga
Day 1: Agadir to Ouarzazate
We will depart Agadir on the first day of our four-day desert holiday and drive to Ouarzazate. In the Sous Valley, we will go to a variety of wonderful Berber towns. We will get the chance to explore Taroudant, which locals sometimes refer to as “little Marrakech.” As a military fortress, the town was built to stave off the Portuguese invasion of the Saadian kingdom. You will view its ancient Medina before continuing on to Taliouine and Tazakht.
The Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a fortification, will be our next visit. The latter is the biggest Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The filming location for our next stop is Ouarzazate. It is a popular filmmaking site because of its Atlas Studios. There have been several television episodes and films filmed, including Gladiator and Prison Break. You will be able to see its studios before being driven to your lodging at the end of the day.
Day 2: From Ouarzazate to Merzouga desert:
Our four-day trip through the Sahara desert, which will take us from Agadir to Merzouga, will begin after breakfast. We will go via the oasis of Skoura and the Valley of the Roses before arriving at the Todgha Gorges. We’ll stop for lunch there and take in the stunning canyon walls. Next, we’ll travel to Merzouga, Touroug, and Erfoud. Your camels will be there when you arrive at Merzouga. The night will be spent in a real Berber tent as you are transported across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. While you unwind and enjoy your time under a stunning starry sky, the locals will keep you entertained with music around the fire.
Day 3: Merzouga to Agdz:
On day 4 of your 4-day desert trip from Agadir, you will have a fantastic opportunity to witness a stunning sunrise from the top of the dunes. Before going to Rissani, you will then have breakfast. On souk days, this city’s usual market is bustling, and we’ll pass it on the way there. Traditional goods are offered for purchase. After that, we’ll pass via Alnif, Tazarrine, and Nkob as we make our way into the Draa Valley. You might choose to follow the old caravan route and pass via the kasbahs on your way to Agdez.
Day 4: Agdez to Agadir:
We go from Agdz to Taznakht, a city renowned for its Berber kelims and carpets, after breakfast. On our adventure, we go through stunning landscapes and the Bouazzer mines. More isolated and off the usual path, this region of the country. Later on, as we go to Agadir, we will pass via the ports of Tizi-n-Ikhsane and Tizi-n-Tighatine.
In Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron-producing region, where there is a superb little museum devoted to the art of saffron growing, we will pause for lunch. The route returns us to Taroudant in the late afternoon, from where we follow the frequently dry Souss River and innumerable argan trees on all the mountain slopes to Agadir.
