If you only have one day to explore Essaouira, here is a suggested itinerary to help you make the most of your time:

1 day trip in Essaouira

9:00 AM:

Start your day by walking through the historic medina. Admire the blue and white buildings and narrow streets as you make your way to Moulay Hassan Square. Here, you can see the impressive bronze cannon and enjoy the views of the ocean.

10:00 AM:

Visit the Skala de la Ville, a fortified sea wall that offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The wall was built in the 18th century to protect the city from invaders.

11:00 AM:

Stroll through the port and watch the fishermen bring in their catch of the day. You can also buy fresh seafood and have it cooked for you at one of the many stalls in the port.

12:00 PM:

Take a break for lunch at one of Essaouira’s many restaurants. Sample some traditional Moroccan dishes like tagine or couscous, or try fresh seafood at one of the many seafood restaurants.

1:30 PM:

After lunch, head to the beach for some relaxation time. Essaouira’s beaches are known for their beautiful scenery and calm waters, and there are plenty of places to rent beach chairs and umbrellas.

3:00 PM:

Explore the city’s vibrant arts scene by visiting some of the local art galleries. Galerie d’Art Frederic Damgaard and Galerie Jama are two of the most popular galleries in Essaouira.

4:30 PM:

Take a camel ride along the beach and enjoy the stunning scenery of the coastline.

6:00 PM:

Head back to the medina to do some shopping. Essaouira is known for its handicrafts, jewelry, and spices, so be sure to pick up some souvenirs before you leave.

7:30 PM:

Finish your day by watching the sunset from the ramparts. The views of the ocean and the city are spectacular, and it’s the perfect way to end your day in Essaouira.

Overall, Essaouira is a beautiful city with plenty to see and do. This itinerary should give you a good introduction to the city’s history, culture, and natural beauty.
